Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of https://thedogs.app (the "Service"), operated by ANIMUS MOTVS Kft., 1031 Budapest, Almási Balogh Loránd utca 1/A, 1st floor, door 3, Hungary; Cg. 01-09-451172; tax number 11804925-2-41; EU VAT HU11804925; email: hello@thedogs.app ("we", "us"). Hosting provider: Lovable Labs Sweden AB, Regeringsgatan 25, 111 53 Stockholm, Sweden, support@lovable.dev. By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. The Service

TheDogs.app provides free informational tools: a breed-matching quiz, breed profiles, AI-generated commentary ("Dr. Waggs"), downloadable guides and a toolkit, and a pet insurance cost estimator. The Service is free of charge.

TheDogs.app inside AI assistants. The Service is also available through our connector for third-party AI assistants, such as ChatGPT (OpenAI) and Claude (Anthropic) (the "AI connector"). Through the AI connector we provide breed matching, breed fit assessments, similar-breed suggestions, breed profiles and comparisons, pet insurance cost estimates, test-drive plans and arrival checklists. The AI connector is operated by ANIMUS MOTVS Kft. and is free of charge. When you add, enable or use the TheDogs.app connector in an AI assistant, these Terms apply to it, together with the "AI assistant connectors" section of our Privacy Policy (https://thedogs.app/privacy#ai-connectors). The AI assistant itself is provided by its operator under its own terms; we do not control how it words, shortens or presents our results. Sections 2 (Not professional advice), 7 (Disclaimers) and 8 (Limitation of liability) apply equally to results shown through an AI assistant.

2. Not professional advice

  • Not veterinary advice. Breed health information is general and based on public sources. Always consult a licensed veterinarian about your dog's health.
  • Not insurance advice, not a quote. The pet insurance estimator produces an educational statistical estimate. It draws on public registry data, published U.S. veterinary cost ranges and our own modelling assumptions, some of which have not yet been independently reviewed. It is not an insurance quote, it is not a recommendation of any specific insurer or policy, and it does not guarantee any cost, premium or coverage. Actual premiums, terms, exclusions (including pre-existing and hereditary conditions) and waiting periods are set solely by insurers. Read any policy carefully before you buy.
  • We are not an insurance company, agent, broker or producer. We do not sell, solicit or negotiate insurance, and we are not licensed to do so. Any insurance contract is solely between you and the insurer.
  • AI content. Dr. Waggs commentary is generated automatically by an AI model and may be inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Choosing a dog. Breed matches are suggestions. Adopting or buying a dog is your own responsibility.

3. Partners, affiliate links and compensation

Some links on the Service may be affiliate or partner links. We may earn a commission or fee when you click them, request a quote or make a purchase, at no extra cost to you. We may also receive a fee for passing on your insurance request to a partner if you have given separate consent (see our Privacy Policy). Compensation does not influence the results of the estimator, which are calculated by the same model for every user. Partner websites and products are governed by their own terms. We are not responsible for their content, offers or conduct. As an Amazon Associate, TheDogs.app earns from qualifying purchases.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to: (a) use the Service unlawfully; (b) submit another person's email address without permission, or submit false information; (c) scrape, copy at scale or systematically extract data from the Service, including our breed, risk or cost data, without our written permission; (d) interfere with or overload the Service, or bypass rate limits or access controls; (e) reverse-engineer the Service except where the law permits it.

5. Intellectual property

The Service, including its text, data compilations, models, design, the "TheDogs.app" and "Dr. Waggs" names and visuals, is owned by us or our licensors. You may use the Service and share links to it for personal, non-commercial purposes. Third-party trademarks belong to their owners and do not imply endorsement.

6. Availability and changes

We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

7. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for decisions you make based on the Service, including decisions about insurance or veterinary care. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to USD 100. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, such as liability for intentional misconduct, gross negligence, or death or personal injury, or your mandatory rights as a consumer.

9. Indemnity

If you breach these Terms, you agree to compensate us for reasonable third-party claims and costs arising from that breach, to the extent permitted by law.

10. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Hungary, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Budapest, Hungary. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence. EU consumers may also bring proceedings in the courts of their country of residence.

11. General

If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer ours as part of a reorganisation or sale of the business. These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service. We may update these Terms by posting a new version with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use after the change means you accept the new version.
